The Modern Ceilidh Bands

ceilidh band dancing has been a Scottish tradition for some 100 years, though the term “Ceilidh” has been around for much longer. Originally, a Ceilidh was a social gathering of fairly large groups of people where stories were told, anecdotes exchanged and debates held. In the past century, however, Ceilidh’s have evolved to become largely focused upon dance, and holding a Ceilidh dance in conjunction with weddings, birthday parties and the like is now quite common throughout Scotland. That said, Ceilidh dances are still held as an occasion of their own, as well, which means that you shouldn’t have any difficulty in finding one to attend should you visit one of the bigger cities in Scotland.
