Teaching Music Theory to students is not the easiest thing to do. Understanding musical notes and elements does not come easily to students who are beginners in the field. A good teacher will always start by introducing the students to basics of music like note reading and staff in addition to explaining the concepts of musical notations and symbols such as clefs. Incorporating music theory fundamentals into actual instrument playing is an effective way to help students understand the concepts of music theory better. Information is best retained if a multi-sensory approach like seeing, hearing and touching are used in the teaching process.
